JWoo's Top 100: An Analysis
JWoo's Top 100: An Analysis
I got somewhat bored, and mostly annoyed that JWoo's list spans 4 articles and has zero summary data. So why not make my own. Plus now we have clear position rankings to fight over and can look at his biases as well as overperformance and underperformance of teams.
To start with, a list of 100 players broken into position rankings.

The PG list feels really controversial. Dyson Daniels as the 23rd best PG in SLN doesn't seem right, and CoJo is probably overrated at 22nd. I'm pretty okay with the top 5, and if anything might move LaMelo up a tad. 6-15 is a murder's row of you can shake up these names and still be pretty accurate.
For SGs, Devin Booker looks significantly overranked to me. But more than anything, I think this really shows off the lack of depth at the position. Some of the listed SFs do play SG, but man, I'd have figured more than just 14 SGs in the top 100. Ironically, the best SG is a guy who plays SF. Mikal Bridges quietly had a terrific season in the Bay and Jaden McDaniels is probably accurately rated now that he popped off to start the year before being banished to Black Dick.
SFs, AG #1 does make my heart happy, but honestly this is Semi for me. Dude does no turnovers with insane volume and rebounding. Jwoo deliberately underranks Amen here to try to secretly crush him before FA. I felt like Kawhi was a bit too high then he went nuclear in the playoffs and showed he's still got it. Kelly Oubre had one of the best wing seasons this year and probably should be higher on this list. He/Durant/Porter are all about the same to me if you had to win a game today.
PFs, Rui all day baby. He got this one right! Give me Justise over Giannis. I apparently can't spell Isaac, sorry sim god. Domas/KP/Rui are all game wreckers. It's interesting to me how impactful those guys are but how PF feels like a lost position.
To the big butts, Jokic/Embiid/Davis/Wemby/KAT....give me, Embiid/Davis/Jokic/Wemby/Dominayton. Trying to differentiate ranking value between big butts and offensive bigs is a fool's errand to me. Some folks have very little desire to use a scoring big so they'll never be a fan whereas others are happy to lean into those guys.
Onto, how many top 100 players does your team have?

Top 5
1. Bullets - 6 (median: 38.5) - 53-29 Record
2. Warriors - 6 (median: 61) - 50-32 Record
3. Raptors - 6 (median: 65) - 54-28 Record
4. Sonicks - 5 (median: 19) - 49-33 Record
5. Bulls - 5 (median: 32) - 48-34 Record
Absent from the List
1. Cleveland Cavaliers (way to tank Manty)
Multiple Top 20 Players
1. 3 - Seattle SuperSonicks: Sabonis (19), LaVine (17), Brunson (16)
2. 2 - New York Knicks: Irving (2), Turner (6)
3. 2 - Toronto Raptors: Jokic (3), Wembanyama (11)
4. 2 - Orlando Magic: Hachimura (7), Murray (10)
5. 2- Chicago Bulls: Doncic (1), Porter Jr. (20)
Let's turn this into the gripe thread. It's funny to me how a team can be a top 4 seed and have fewer Top 100 guys than teams that don't make the playoffs.
