[Vote Requested] Setting a time/date trade deadline
Right now, the trade deadline is whenever Ashes can do the Day 100-110 sim. This leads to:
- uncertainty as to when the deadline actually is and how much time left we have to make deals
- ashes being harassed by GMs (read: me) for a few extra minutes to complete a trade
- We set the trade deadline as a certain number of days after the Day 91-99 sim, such that Ashes knows when to do the Day 100-110 sim. This does NOT mean that Ashes needs to sim exactly at the trade deadline - just anytime after.
- All valid trades would need to be posted by the deadline (which ashes can determine just by looking at the timestamp of the original post), and both people have to post accept by when ashes sims 100-110

Voted yes, seems like a no brainer
Only issue I have is i dont think we should rule with an iron fist on having both people accept on the boards by the deadline - would just be frustrating to have a deal fall through because one side of a trade becomes unresponsive after accepting a deal

thinking this over, i think this actually makes it easier for ashes as well - deal has to be posted by the deadline (which ashes can determine just by looking at the timestamp of the original post), and both people have to post accept by when ashes sims 100-110. will updateMatt wrote: May 27th, 2025, 1:53 pm Voted yes, seems like a no brainer

i think one day is plenty but i support having a uniform deadline — my only thing is that 5pm may not always be in lockstep with the sim schedule so I'd recommend asking Ashes maybe if there is a time that works best for him. Maybe like noon CT so that it won't hold up a sim whether or not he is working that day?

Voted yes, agree it feels like a no brainer.
The bigger issue is GMs becoming unresponsive right before the deadline after previously engaging...maybe we should add an addendum on this one to solve that. Maybe 500RP ghost tax? Let's logroll this legislation

Voted yes, for 1-day after 91-99. Can't see a great reason why we shouldn't do that.
All deals should be agreed to by both parties by the deadline. If not, tough shit, that's how the world works.

Voted Yes, 1 day. I’m with Jesse on the posting as well, not being able to agree on the boards or showing a text thread that it’s agreed by the deadline sucks but you gotta draw the line somewhere, get it done earlier…

For @Jesse and @GX. - the reason I changed it to be that the trade has to be posted by the deadline and accepted before the Day 100-110 sim (rather than both posted and accepted by the deadline) is because I think it makes the processing easier.
If the rule is that the trade has to be posted by the deadline, then ashes opens a tab for each trade that was posted before the deadline, then when processing, just has to check whether an acceptance was posted. If the rule is that both parties have to accept by the deadline, then ashes also has to read the timestamp of each acceptance post as well. Just adds an extra step.
Given it's on the edges, thinking it's better to optimize for what's easier.

I mean 5PM is a time that doesn’t make sense unless it falls on Tues/Wed/Thurs

let’s turn that 5 upside down and make it a 2
