BEST DRAFT PICKS PER PICK POSITION
BEST DRAFT PICKS PER PICK POSITION
Waiting on some things and figured I might as well capitalize on my time to get some RP and feed the Scoot/Edey train! I feel like everybody loves the draft because it is some form of black box randomness that gives us a semblance of control over these rosters. Lord knows how the TC Gods will treat them but the pick itself is a key decision by each GM. I figured, why not look at the best and worst picks by each team over the years. It’ll be a fun way to laugh at ourselves and realize just how smart we were the time we picked the one guy in the one place.
My original plan here was to give my opinion of the best pick at each spot but some of the picks were hard to make decisions on, and it felt a little arrogant to be like yea yea well I said so. Then as I came upon more and more names from the glory days of SLN when content and discussion were aplenty, why not turn it into a democracy with a little write up. Plus I'll give my own worst pick at each lotto spot. Let the battle begin.

Number One Overall
The Candidates: Kevin Durant (GOAT), Dirk (averaged 40 points in a season once I'm told), Manu (Joe's GOAT), and LeBron (Stat padding GOAT)
Kevin Durant is a god the likes SLN had never seen before. After being exposed to Magic City and lemon pepper wings, KD turned into an absolute freak going to 6 straight finals and winning 4 in a row, including at 2 different teams! He scores like Dirk, guards like Kawhi, and he rebounds!
Dirk could score with the best of them. He carried Seattle on his back to numerous championships and deep playoff runs. A little weak on the defensive end but it typically didn't matter when he hung an efficient 35 on your head.
Manu was the complete SG. Low TO, hyper efficient, elite volume, and great defense. The only blemish is just the one title.
LeBron is another 1 title man but truly holds most SLN records or will come close to it. His combined stats are 48,973 points (1st), 15,126 rebounds, 11,777 assists, 2,582 steals, 4,271 turnovers (1st), 18,427 FGM (1st), 8,910 FTM (400 behind Yao), 3,216 3FGM (500 behind Lou Will, yeah he's #1), 975 double doubles (57 behind Eddy Curry), and 235 triple doubles (1st)
Worst Ever - Zion Williamson
Number Two Overall
The Candidates: Tracy McGrady, Dwyane Wade, Greg Oden, Luka Doncic
TMac is a unique 1 of 1 wing capable of scoring 30 PPG and blocking 3 shots per game. He ushered in the new era of inside offenses, spearheading the dominant Rockets inside squad to an SLN record for wins in a row. Two time champion as a key piece, once in Boston and once in Houston.
Dwyane Wade was very efficient and a two way powerhouse. He was a bit underrated hanging out in Vancouver over the years but would win two titles, one in the Northwest and one in Sacramento. DWade brought elite defense and stocks to go with electrifying offense, spearheading a Grizzlies dynasty that had epic battles with Dirk's Sonicks.
Greg Oden was once thought to be Tim Duncan at best but probably not that great long term. He was traded a surprising amount of times. He found his proper home in Salt Lake City where he anchored an elite defense and would win numerous accolades and one title.
Luka Doncic is probably a bit young for this list but we can tell where it's going.
Worst Ever - Damian Lillard
Number Three Overall
The Candidates: Shaun Livingston, Pau Gasol, Chauncey Billups, and Kristaps Porzingis
Shaun won MVP taking LeBron to the finals before bolting to Houston. He would be the PG on those aforementioned Houston inside squads that won a title. Shaun bounced around a bit towards the end but was always one of the best two way PGs in SLN.
Pau took Dallas to a finals before being shipped off to pair with DWade. They would form the 90's Buffalo Bills of SLN, although a title would actually come for Vancouver. Pau had a lot of IRL Tim Duncan, steady...solid...rarely discussed.
Chauncey peaked as an elite PG in Boston leading Joe to his first title. He was the third banana but a damn good one.
Kristaps has been a very Pau-like player and has had a great statistical career to this point.
Worst Ever - Kyle Lowry
Number Four Overall
The Candidates: Andrei Kirilenko, Myles Turner, Andre Drummond, Zach LaVine
AK47 spent most of his life in the Minnesota wilderness but was one of the best defenders SLN has ever seen. A true stock god.
Myles Turner basically changed the rules of bigs that can shoot. He's yet to win a title but has had a hell of a career. I think he has daily nightmares of KD but he'll look good in the HoF one day.
Andre Drummond is your big butt's favorite big butt. Tong has "threatened" to tank a bunch but Drummond was always a bridge too far. A one club man. Andre has been one of the best rebounders in the league since day 1. We still wonder what the Heat would've been like with Dre.
Zach LaVine is a bucket. That's all I have to say about that.
Worst Ever - Joel Pryzbilla
Number Five Overall
The Candidates: Carmelo Anthony, Marvin Williams, Al Jefferson, Ben Simmons
Melo was one of the best scorer's in league history and won titles in San Antonio and Denver.
Marvin Williams was a beast in Utah and Indy. He had a long unheralded career as an elite two way wing who didn't turn it over.
Al Hefty, oh how I miss you. Extremely efficient big man who topped out at 3 blocks per game and paired with Greg Oden to form the Twin Towers of Salt Lake City.
Ben Simmons has been pretty good and I think is one of the more underrated guys in the league. 5th drops off quickly.
Worst Ever - Darius Miles
Number Six Overall
The Candidates: Jrue Holiday, Antawn Jamison, Lou Williams, Devin Harris
Jrue has been so good it's almost routine. Somehow he's still one of the best PG's in the league. Multi-time MVP. Champion.
Antawn is a guy I wish SLN still had. Can you imagine him with PHX right now? Sheesh. Dude was an absolute bucket and rebounded so well.
Lou Williams leads SLN in 3FGM all time, has won a title, and once got traded for expirings (good call JWoo)
Devin Harris reached his peak in San Antonio before slowly falling off afterwards. He was always a guy who was almost elite but left you wanting more.
Worst Ever - Brandon Knight
Number Seven Overall
The Candidates: Tyreke Evans, Deandre Ayton, DeAndre Jordan, Danny Granger
Tyfreke was one of the more unheralded stars of SLN and would Robin to KD's batman for 3 titles.
Ayton is in the midst of his peak. Sources out of Phoenix tell me he's just Boban but with a boring ass name.
DeAndre Jordan, the man who took Diop's mantle as best big butt in SLN.
Danny Granger. Traitorous cancer
Worst Ever - Derek Favors because at least Rajon Rondo got burn
Number Eight Overall
The Candidates: Jameer Nelson, Markelle Fultz, Michael Porter Jr., Richard Hamilton
Jameer is a fringe HoF guy who lead many great Blazers teams to playoff disappointment before winning his title in Utah.
Markelle is very similar to Jameer tbh
MPJ we can see what's coming, #100PotMan
Rip Hamilton was always good. Silent assassin. Makes me realize we don't appreciate the good ones enough. Let's talk about our players more.
Worst Ever - Bol Bol
Number Nine Overall
The Candidates: Marvin Bagley, Lamar Odom, Zach Randolph, Tim Hardaway Jr.
So yeah, 9 might not be the pick you want. Most of these guys are rotation+ type guys except Bagman who has evolved into a really great inside offense 3/4
Worst Ever - Reggie Evans
Number Ten Overall

Fox is one of the best PGs in the league and has been a great player for Tong
Shabazz blossomed in Washington before ascending last season in Portland but it did take him awhile
Emeka was a nice big butt for a while
Jason Terry took the Raptors to the doorstep as starting PG and played a good role for multiple good teams.
Worst Ever - Dragan Bender
Number Eleven Overall
The Candidates: Aaron Gordon, Mehmet Okur, Greg Monroe, Andre Miller
AG is a unique specimen. His closest comp would kind of be TMac but he's more of a 4 to TMac's 2. Not many guys can score, rebound, and block like AG and that's before we mention he doesn't turn it over
Mehmet Okur was the original spread 5. He had a fun career in the Swamp before traversing the league.
Greg Monroe is fine? Salmonroe
Andre Miller...I guess this could be Okogie or Thybulle?
Worst Ever - Rodney Carney
Number Twelve Overall
The Candidates: Eddie Griffin, Tyus Jones, Mo Bamba, Ray Felton
Eddie Griffin was a two way stud who turned into one of the better defensive bigs in league history.
Tyus has been a fantastic PG for many seasons and far outperformed his draft notes. Why did Jordo send him to NY so I could deal with him all the time?
Mo Bamba, the new age big butt
Ray Felton, definitively worse than Deron Williams but better than a lot of 12th overall picks
Worst Ever - Kevin Porter Jr.
Number Thirteen Overall
The Candidates: Kris Humphries, Josh Hart, Montrezl Harrell, and Derek Anderson
Humpman was a Jesse meme who rebounded the shit out of the ball.
Hart is solid. Trez is solid. Ralph can tell you about Derek Anderson, it's before my time.
Worst Ever - Danilo Gallinari
Number Fourteen Overall
The Candidates: Desagana Diop, Otto Porter Jr., Kendrick Perkins, Larry Sanders
Apparently 14 is the home of butts.
Lasagna Plop. Best big butt ever?
OPJ has turned into an elite scorer/shooter in Chicago while providing good rebounding.
Perk was a solid big butt for a lengthy period of time.
Larry Sanders is a big butt that has been underrated for years and apparently resigns under the table. Can you imagine how many illicit dollars Matt has laundered to Larry?
Number Fifteen Overall
The Candidates: John Henson, Mitchell Robinson, Birdman, Tony Allen
The mid teens are the place to land the big butt of your dreams! John Henson took a while but turned into a beast of a butt.
Mitchell Robinson is on his way to a similar career.
Birdman was a lesser tier version of these butts who shot it a bit more
Tony Allen was a two way presence who somehow offered efficiency to go with his elite defense. He played key roles on numerous great teams.
Number Sixteen Overall
The Candidates: Eric Bledsoe, Kwame Brown, Bismack Biyombo, Jahlil Okafor
Eric Bledsoe was generally relegated to sixth man duty but few were as good at it as he was. Another guy likely smuggled money under the table, Eric always took the cheapest of deals.
Kwame Brown peaked as one of the best defender/rebounder bigs next to Diop before heading to Milwaukee. He got overpaid at one point which affected his legacy but he was damn good at his peak.
Bismack has been relatively undervalued around the league during his tenure in New York but finally didn't resign cheaply and got compensated!
Jahlil turned into a pretty nice player after Tong gave him some run and currently is a key influence in the Utah Jazz resurgence
Number Seventeen Overall
The Candidates: Langston Galloway, Ersan Ilyasova, Cuttino Mobley, Kevon Looney
Gallo is a great manager born in the Jason Hart mold. He's efficient and doesn't turn it over
Ersan was a unique player who ended up having a really fun career as a useful 5th starter. He rebounded, could efficiently score, and provided quality defense.
Cuttino Mobley was a bucket and a key player for the Hornets' back to back titles. An A+ outside guy, Cuttino was a pure bucket on the wings.
Kevon Looney. He gets tired. The butt is so big it can only player 27 minutes, but they're a great 27 minutes.
Number Eighteen Overall
The Candidates: Chris Boucher, Brendan Haywood, Dorian Finney-Smith, Dewayne Dedmon
Pick 18 is about like pick 9. Coincidence? I think not.

DFS shouldn't be on this list but the options are bad
Dedmon, see above
Number Nineteen Overall
The Candidates: Ivica Zubac, Eddy Curry, Ryan Anderson, JJ Redick
Zuuuuuuuuu. He's an A/A big and I love the guy
Eddy Curry just refuses to retire. He's the career leader in double doubles and has been a stud for the longest. Won a title as the dude in Houston.
Ryan Anderson was once marketed as better than Kawhi Leonard. He wrecked the NDL before turning into a nice scorer for the Kangz
JJ Redick is my NDL GOAT before Scoot. He carved out a solid career as a 6th man scorer.
Number Twenty Overall
The Candidates: Rui Hachimura, Yaroslav Korolev, Robin Lopez, Thon Maker
Rui is the man. We all know he's incredible with more to come
Yaro achieved his peak in Toronto as a two way force leading a few 50 win squads

Thon has turned into a really solid big man, maybe he was worth 3 FRP from ORL Manty
Number Twenty One Overall

Caleb Martin, perpetually underrated.
Number Twenty Nine Overall
The Candidates: Skal Labissiere, Terence Davis, Mark Madsen, Sasha Pavlovic
Skal has turned into a really nice big for Wes and helped make Naz Reid expendable, leading to Kevin Durant!
TD is an absolute bucket and offered to resign cheap. I think he could be a regular 25 PPG guy.
Mad Dog was the buttiest
Sasha Pavlovic. Once worth 2 FRP! Then worth Gilbert Arenas. He got paid A LOT of money and was generally sexier ratings than player.
