What could the 2025 SLN draft look like?
Sources inform me we might be getting some draft content on these beautiful boards in the not-too-far future. Before that happens, I wanted to take a stab at what this SLN draft might look like, since I've spent an inordinate amount of time with these players and this is the only time in league history where an IRL draft cycle will be wrapping up concurrently with the SLN season itself.
Basically, before we get to see how Ashes makes the players, I'm going to cook up some fake draft profiles for funsies while we wait for preseason. Interested how these compare/if they compare at all to what Ashes cooks up. Excited to see the draft!!!
Strengths: Solid around the rim with decent athleticism. Decent jump shot with decent range. Decent quickness. Good vision for his position. Good, versatile defender with nice stock potential. Will get steals. Should block a shot. Above-average rebounder.
Weaknesses: Needs to hit the weights.
Scout's Take: Cooper Flagg is the great white hope. Scouts are comparing him to many of the best wings in SLN history and say his potential is through the roof. How will he develop?
Stipulations: Will slip on the floor every time he tries to score with 10 seconds or less on the clock.
Ratings: Cooper Flagg SF 19 6-9 B C+ B- B+ C+ A

Strengths: Strong around the rim. Crafty scorer. Good vision. Good strength for his position and decent quickness. Decent handles. Should get a steal. Decent rebounder for his position.
Weaknesses: Needs the ball in his hands. Outside game needs work. Can be an uninterested positional defender.
Scout's Take: Scouts are high on Harper's chances of becoming a reliable starting point guard, but he has some work to do rounding out his game.
Stipulations: Can play PG.
Ratings: Dylan Harper SG 20 6-6 C+ C+ B C+ C A
***
Strengths: Good athlete. Makes tough shots. Very good jump shot. Range is getting there. Should get a steal and a block. Good rebounder for his position.
Weaknesses: Takes too many tough shots. Might struggle with efficiency. Needs to hit the weights. Won't pass. Sometimes looks lost on the court defensively. Makes a lot of mistakes out there.
Scout's Take: Ace Bailey calls to mind many of the best perimeter scorers of this era, but scouts are a little concerned about his feel for the game. Rumor is he has trouble remembering plays. He's rough around the edges, but with a little love and care, he could become one of the best scorers in the league.
Stipulations: None
Ratings: Ace Bailey SF 19 6-9 C+ B- C- C+ C+ A
***
Strengths: Explosive leaper around the rim. Good finisher who's hard to keep out of the paint. Good jump shot. Good defender at both backcourt spots. Will get steals. Good strength and quickness.
Weaknesses: Handles need work. Range is just OK.
Scout's Take: Edgecombe is a prototypical undersized slasher who should become useful on both ends of the floor. He needs some time to develop his offensive game, but scouts are very high on his upside.
Stipulations: None
Ratings: VJ Edgecombe SG 20 6-4 B- C+ C B C A
***
Strengths: Very hard to score on in the paint. Will block a shot. Takes care of the ball. Strong.
Weaknesses: Below-average rebounder. Not very quick.
Scout's Take: Maluach is the best defensive big man in the class, with the type of tools teams love. With some focus on his rebounding, he could be a true defensive anchor.
Stipulations: None
Ratings: Khaman Maluach C 19 7-2 C+ C D B C A

Strengths: Very good shooter. Decent around the rim. Makes good decisions and knows where to be on the court. Might get a steal. Decent strength.
Weaknesses: Not athletic or quick. Not stocky. Below-average rebounder.
Scout's Take: This pasty lad from Wisconsin just knows how to get it done. Scouts think he's ready to help a team off the bench right away, but aren't sure he'll command the volume to be a No. 1 scorer. He might be the best shooter in the draft, though.
Stipulations: Must make a seasonal pilgrimage to the Mars Cheese Castle.
Ratings: Kon Knueppel SG 20 6-6 C+ B+ C C+ C- B
***
Strengths: Good post moves. Decent jump shot. Good vision for his position. Might get a steal and a block. Good strength and quickness.
Weaknesses: Will take threes, but you won't want him to. Handles need work. Dislikes guarding his man and doing the dirty work.
Scout's Take: Queen is a throwback center with great skill for a big man, but scouts are worried about his motor. With the right development, he could be a unique player, but it'll be up to his team to get the most out of him.
Stipulations: None
Ratings: Derik Queen C 21 6-8 B C+ C+ C+ C+ A
***
Strengths: Good scorer who loves to get shots up and can light it up quickly. Decent vision with OK handles.
Weaknesses: Needs the ball in his hands. Will shoot it a lot, but his efficiency is a concern. Needs to hit the weights. Bad defender.
Scout's Take: Tre Johnson is a good scorer who doesn't like to do anything else. He might put up stats, but does he help you win?
Stipulations: None
Ratings: Tre Johnson SG 19 6-6 B- B C+ C- C- A
***
Strengths: Promising scorer who can get into the paint. Very good jump shot. Decent vision. Good steals. Excellent quickness.
Weaknesses: Three-point game isn't there yet. Will turn the ball over. Defense will probably never be good. Weak.
Scout's Take: Fears is a talented young player who burst onto the scene and has won scouts over with his productivity. Scouts are mixed on his chances of turning into a franchise point guard, but are willing to take a gamble on his youth and ability to create shots. Might be more of a combo guard in the long run, but who knows?
Stipulations: None

Strengths: Good passer who loves to make plays for teammates. Some inside scoring with a decent jump shot and decent range. Decent post defender who might block a shot. Decent strength and quickness.
Weaknesses: Will turn the ball over a lot. Will get lit up by SLN wings.
Scout's Take: Danny Wolf is a big, talented fella who hates playing like a big fella. "There's no way in hell Danny Wolf is unique," one scout quipped recently. Guess we'll find out.
Stipulations: Cannot play center.
Ratings: Danny Wolf PF 21 7-0 C+ B B+ C C+ B

What could the 2025 SLN draft look like?
I’ve also had a scout tell me there’s no way he’s unique. And that guy is a ball knower
What could the 2025 SLN draft look like?
Is Kon really going pro? I figured he’d have a great college career but end up going pro in something other than sports
What could the 2025 SLN draft look like?
Danny should be able to start at PG, just should have handles that would be in the 4-5 range at pg, so as to completely off set the rebounding
