SPECIAL POD! Behind the Veil 1996-2000: The Ashes Two-Year Anniversary Behemoth Mega Pod
Happy anniversary you wonderful fuckers,
Yes, we were delaying the start of TC for this but no, you won't be mad at us. I present to you as a special two-year anniversary surprise, this pod which has been months in the making. Yes it's basically the length of the Two Towers. So let this be the hour when we draw swords together or at least sharpen them with the sheer amount of ESSENTIAL FBB KNOWLEDGE that was dropped on this podcast.
Merv and I were joined by the SIM GOD who agreed to divulge the starting stats for basically any player who is no longer active in SLN and explain away some of the best, worst and more interesting development cases he has seen so far. So, we went through every draft from the first era of SLN as we know it — starting with the creation draft all the way to the incredible 2000 draft class — before we realized we had spent three hours on this and we'll just need to do another one next year.
SOME TOPICS INCLUDE (!)
-The true origin story of our league: Ashes discovering FBB 23 years ago
-Creation draft
---How Hakeem and Shaq were dominant in different ways
--Who Ashes would have taken first in the creation draft
--How Michael Jordan was built
--Elite PGs: Kidd, Nash and TB
--Top role players and what they can teach us - Rodman, Horry, Kerr
-The 1997 draft
--Why Tim Duncan didn't quite become Tim Duncan
--How T-Mac and Paul Pierce (98) were similarly constructed
--Brevin Knight (?) gets comped to one of the best PGs in SLN history
--JWoo finally gets the answer he wanted about Anthony Parker
--the biggest what if in SLN history might be...Michael Dunkin Penberthy
-A Battle Saint Interlude
-The 1998 draft
-- The birth of Dirk
--Vince Carter's stip
--Busts, including Rashard Lewis, Mike Bibby and Larry Hughes
--Why Cuttino Mobley probably wasn't built like you thought he was
-The 1999 draft
--Manu and his stip
--AK as the most dominant defender ever
--Why Shawn Marion probably should be in the Hall of Fame (and was maybe underutilized)
--We forget to talk about Kris Clack
-The 2000 draft
--Why this was such a unique class
--Who Ashes would have taken first
--Jamario Moon, Jamal Crawford and more
--What happened to Darius Miles
--Some philosophical discussion about an unheralded defensive end from Oregon
--We remember to talk about Kris Clack
Enjoy!!! Ashes strongly recommends you digest the entire pod. It's OK to take breaks, lol.
Good luck in TC!!!

Real wrestling or fake wrestling?
I'm a real folk style / grappling fan, so curious. Seems like fake wrestling.
