Live-ISH Draft Reactions - In Progress

Post by Clinton »

Yea so im currently not home so ill start later but for now, here this goes: s/o Tyler and Ashes for the order and picks so far

File: draft/draftplayers-pot.htm
Notes: https://simleaguenirvana.com/viewtopic.php?t=5767
Jesses Whimsical Draft Board: https://simleaguenirvana.com/viewtopic.php?t=5785

Alright it is 11:31 est and we have already gotten to GXs pick. Time to make up and some non live analysis.

DRAFT(LOTTO):
1. Golden State Warriors — Erick Dampier Jr. — C — Mississippi State
Analysis: Mantypas might be the new Fortune Teller Baba after calling the Warriors jump the night before. Never thought it was possible but here we are. I was torn b/w the Damp and BamBay. I will write how i viewed Bamba under my analysis for Charlotte and stick to Dampier here. Logic won out when i chose him. I think his longterm outlook is a safer bet and needed a legit two way big to pair with Boogie long term. Is he the fun choice here? For some of you, probably, for me, no. Was he the right choice? Only time will tell, but i do believe there were only two guys worthy of the first pick and i got one.
Fun Fact: Last time Golden State had the 1st overall pick, the team with 2nd overall was the Charlotte Hornets. Lets hope things work out better for me this go round.
Fun Fact 2: Last player the Warriors drafted from Mississippi State was Monta Ellis(was on his listed college though IRL highschool).

Grade: Really wish i knew how to include polls bc i would love to let the people vote from now on.

2. Charlotte Hornets — Bamba Touray — C — Kansas
Analysis: Okay so i view Bamba as a carbon copy of Chet, with less blocks and slightly less pos def. Though he isnt as ready as Dampier, if his potential hits then this could be a longterm boom for Jackie boy. Yeah i thought Dampier and Bamba would go 1-2 in any order and it worked out as such. Bamba fits in as the PF for the Hornets, who already have their some fun bigs in Jaylen and Jayden, and young wings The Kid Dooney Johnson and Lincoln Cosby. Next step, PG.

Grade: Maybe tomorrow

3.Sacramento Kings — Shalen Sheppard — PF — USC
Analysis: Leave it to Jesse to consistently fall in love players from the island of misfit toys. Jesse gives no fucks when it comes to board value(even his own board:https://simleaguenirvana.com/viewtopic.php?t=5785) or see the Brandon Clarke pick, and it usually? works out. Guess thats what playing this game the longest does. I really have zero issue with this pick, Shalen is the best rebounder in the file and the second best outside rating from a front court player. He has the makings for a I nside: B / Outside: A- / Def: B+ / Reb: A- longterm. Seems safer than Bentley but who tf knows.

4. Portland Trailblazers — Bentley Lusakueno — PF — Georgia Tech
Analysis: So i uhm looked at Bentley’s profile and gave a solid thought to taking him numero uno. That lasted all of 2 mins until i looked at that Dampy Dump but hey, the thought was there. Bentley looks to be someone who will get to the line and be an extremely efficient big. Now the scary part, which i admire Sam for consistently not giving two fucks about. Bentley will need his pos def and or reb to pop to make this pick worth it. He is clearly going to be a bucket on offense, but when it comes to Big Man Tings, this is a shot in the dark. Sam and I never thought we would be picking in the top 4, so fuck it, why not fuck around and find out.

5. Indiana Pacers — Jan Cerdan — SF — Espana
Analysis: I ponder whether to incite another “fuck you Clint” from Tonger or to say positive things here, 🤔. Guess we find out together, huh Tong. Cerdan is scary good at rebounding for a wing and im lowkey surprised he got past Jesse. Look at those combine games for fuck sake. Dudes only “negative” is that he is mid at defense. All you people are sluts for wing rebounding and his “so-so defense” really scared you into letting him fall to 5? 👀. I only wonder what this does to Karims legacy in Indiana lol. Except for the fact that the two of them will be interchangeable at 2/3. My real question for Tonger is, do you move one of them to SG now, in the case that they both reach B rebounding at SF? Just a thought. See, wasnt that better than my grade for Karim last year?

6. Minnesota Timberwolves — AJ Williams — SF — Roll Tide Roll Alabama — fook yea
Analysis: My brodie Pankin makes a solid choice here with AJ Williams. Upon closer examination, Williams is a great choice that Pankin can put at the 2 or 3, not be an option, and just give good minutes long term. I really like him next to Ace Bailey if Pankin can resign him. Damn, AJ’s camps seem pretty straight forward as well. At the end of the day, there were guys higher up on the scouted pot board but most the players we have seen to get tagged with should be a good 3/4/5th starter tend to hit said target(*small data sample from my brain w zero research behind statement). Nice building block Pankin.

7. Chicago Bulls — Adan Diggs — SG — Arizona
Analysis: Do i go after this pick? Do i respect my tree grandpappy? Does he even read this? How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Questions: Lets find some answers. Yeah cool, 2nd year of rebuild, why not take a shot on that highest scouted pot left who could also get that teen pot boost. Sure, fine, understandable. Nope yeah, im stupid and misplayed how many SG/wings Matt drafted last year, dass on me. Yeah, you got Bruce Branch at SF who had a stellar rookie season and NDL stud PG, Beckham Black, marinating and only 20 going into yr two down there. Oh wait, no fuck you, not fuck me. You do already have Ament at the 3 and BB at the 2. ADAN DIGGS ISNT EVEN BB SO WTF. Skip to my lou 2.0 didnt catch your fancy? Nah ill chill, this pick is fine. You know he has decently high pot based on notes and you have ur wings set, so why not take a swing at this point with no legit FC guys on the board. I still dk about the woodchuck but we totes went after this pick. I guess i showed a lil respect? He wont read this, that i know.

8. Los Angeles Lakers — Isaiah Hamilton — SF — Michigan State
Analysis: Alright George, you came for me as soon as i started so get ready for this. “Weaknesses: Defense is very disappointing.” Shall i continue? Nope, thats all i got. Thought i was about to read about some bad handles or any ref to his rebounding(could be good/could be bad = fun) but i got stonewalled by how spicy Isaiah’s offense is. Now that B handles can be a blessing and a curse, gotta give the dude some burn to see how his turnovers look to decide on if he needs handles. But yeah, George, you took an offensive juggernaut here who might do fuck all else so just CAMP HIM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD and make him elite. POR FAVOR. I feel like no matter what, you get a microwave scorer here which will always have value so based on the board and profiles, nice choice. But if you dont camp him then id be hurt.

9. Milwaukee Bucks — Quintus Sugarman — PG — SDSU
Analysis: I somewhat wish i was a giant cocaine dealer and this name would be my alias…maybe in another life, oh well. So, if it wasnt for one of the greatest names to cross the SLN database yet, i still believe another factor made this choice easy. “Incredible steals”. Excuse me? IncREDibLe?!?! Dare i say never before have i ever before? Derek usually makes me cream my pants with how he maneuvers the draft and while i am still clearly DAMP, i wont go stupid regardless of the Incredible. This isnt even me bitching about skip to my deux or the fourth installment in the Rider franchise.
Nah i had to stop myself before i went negative because i went too ham on Matt and GX and i dont like it. Sugarman is a fun pick. I like it, i like it a lot. Could lead to some legit promotions in Milwaukee.

— Lil Blog Break before Bed —
Yeah, first and foremost, probs went too negative w Matt and GX and i feel bad about it. I might change it up tomorrow, so my bad fellas. Wanna do more research anyways on em.

— GOODNIGHT —

—DAY DEUX—
Welcome back everyone. After a raucous day one, we are ready to get after these choices today. Starting with a new our GM Will and the Miami Heat. Lets get after it!

10. Miami Heat — Kager Knipple — SF — Probs Duke or Wisconsin…nope twas BYU
Analysis: Will the Thrill gets his tenure underway with a solid pick in Kager Knueppel. Profile for the Nips fam is hilarious so good on the Heat for taking that swing here and getting a profile player at 10. Do you try and get Kinston now? Do you go bold and go for the holy trinity w/ Kon and possibly the quadtratic formula if the youngest somehow makes it into a fake draft? Future problems i guess. IF YOU READ THIS, DONT TRADE SENGUN UNLESS YOUR BLOWN AWAY BY AN OFFER. ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS DUDER.

Yuh know, if people dont start providing traffic i perhaps might start grading this picks to incite riots and hate.

🚨 TRADE ALERTS GALORE 🚨 — @Joe , i think they heard you! Lolol

11. Dallas Mavericks(via IND & SAC) — Kameron Mercer — SF — Illinois
Trade: DAL trades Thomas Haugh, pick 13, & NJN 2035 FRP. SAC trades Matisse Thybulle, Christian Anderson, pick 11.
Analysis: Hoff is making moves folks. We here at Baycorp love when Hoff gets a kick for trades #makeDallasfunagain. Kameron Mercer looks like a sweet win now player. Boasting a B inside and B+ defense from the jump is just what a playoff hopeful team needs. Premier cheap wing depth is hard to acquire in this league, so why not do it while you can. Mercer could have a decent role this season for a playoff team in Dallas. Picking up the most dominant stock wing in SLN and a legit PG in the process as well adds value here as well.

12. Sacramento Kings — Amari Williams — PF — Illinois
Analysis: I feel as if Jesse loves PFs as much as i do and this draft is no different. After taking Sheppard w/ the 3rd overall pick, the Kings double up with two PF prospects in the lottery by taking Amari Williams here at 12. This is year 2 of the SacramenTank so quantity to find value is still the premium. Jesse is the reason i was able to realize how important rebounding was in SLN and the Williams pick adds to this as well. While only sporting a C def to start, he has a B- at inside/outside/reb which is a great looking base at PF…or honestly SF if you wanna fuck around and find out. Regardless, the Kings clearly had a plan and are attacking it.

13. Sacramento Kings (via NJN & DAL) — Toby Robutussin — SG — Houston
Trade: DAL trades Thomas Haugh, pick 13, & NJN 2035 FRP. SAC trades Matisse Thybulle, Christian Anderson, pick 11.
Analysis: I told you this man loves his rebounding. I heard through the grapevine that teams were looking into Toby as a sneaky option from the late teens into the 20s, sorry fellas but Jesse has no time for you all. Dashing the hopes of numerous teams w this pick(primarily Jeremy), the Kings snag the 5th, hold on…THE 5th HIGHEST REBOUNDING RATING IN THE FILE IS A SG?!?!? Oof, i went wild over Cerdan’s rebounding in those combine games but Toby might have the highest starting rebounding for a SG ever? I guess Ralph Sampson really got after to find a role and the Kings obliged. Toby probably could have used some NDL gains but perhaps a SC could round out his game if TCs dont do the trick. Weird pick but very fun.

NDL ZONAGE:
14. Detroit Pistons(via SEA & CHI) — Noah Washington — SF — Washington(Go Huskies)
Trade: CHI trades pick 14 and DET 35 SRP. DET trades Darius Bazley?!
Analysis: HOW in the fuck did i not know Bazley was this fucking cheap? HOW?!?!? FML dude. Whatever. Nah fuck, fr? ARGH ARGH ARGH. Alright, im done. So, Noah Washington becomes the first NDL pick of the 2029 SLN draft. Lets take a look. 9th highest scouted pot. Above average across the board. Good upside. I like him as a stash? RB can take the gains and put them wherever and choose a place through camps to make Washington pop in whichever facet he deems the best. I think this is a fun project while also giving RB an attainable SF he covets at the same time. Cool pick as the first stash player.

— Full Honesty —
Jordo, you kind of got to me saying i dont comp to Baba anymore. Are my takes that trash now? Have they always been trash? Is it my lack of skill in pickem? I PICKED A CENTER TO WIN PLAYOFF MVP AND IT HAPPENED!!! Shit, i am fragile arent I? Welp.

— Trade Bonanza —
After a lack of frps changing hands, pointed out by Joe. Some massive deals happened to really flip the league up. Nav is moving into a tank and picked up Adan Diggs from Chicago in the process. Matt picking up Jalen Green and Mo Bamba in the process? Nav, you broke my heart by trading Bamba already. Jesse and Hoff flipped some things around to deal with some depth. Hoff and the Mavs flip Jonathan Isaac into Myles Turner. Things are happening folks, if you dont keep up, you will get left in the dust.

15. Miami Heat (via SEA/PHI/PHX) — Kinston Knipple — SF — Wisconsin
Analysis: He fucking did it. Just finding this out is fucking spectacular. What a first draft imo. This is how you have fun. Regardless of if there is a stip or not, you get both profile brothers. I wonder if longterm they both project at SG because of their rebounding, idk maybe Kager sticks at SF because of his inside being higher or vice versa. Cool stash while his brother gets burn in the big leagues. Wing depth reloaded.

16. Utah Jazz(via SAS) — Isaiah Rider IV — PG — Ride or Die University
Analysis: No clue when Ralph scooped this pick but he got himself a PG prospect in Rider. Now if he has a crazy TC then he will be getting diminished gains in the NDL but something will be better than nothing because starting with B- across the middle of the board for a PG fits the mold for a possible starter. At 16, i think thats solid. His camping seems pretty straight forward as well. Yeah, idk, not much to say other than this is a solid straightforward pick.

🚨 MORE TRADES 🚨

17. Seattle SoNicks (via UTA/VAN) — Jeremy Gohier — C — Ew Canada
Analysis: At this point, i cant keep up with the litany of trades occurring today. So Nick somehow gets pick 17 and takes a massive human in Gohier. His notes are actually legit. He is gonna be a big butt who hits his freethrows at an efficient clip? Can pick up all the gains in the NDL at the moment as well. Yeah, could be a boon in a few years for ole Saint Nick in Seattle who i hope is having more fun again.

18. Houston Rockets — Peter Julius — C — Kentucky
Analysis: Bargain bin Zion? Perchance? I think that would be pretty legit here for Nolan. A known savant of the inside offense, i think Nolan can get the most out of Julius. Id be worried to touch his strength at all early on simply because if he hits A inside too early it could hurt his ability to become decent at other important areas. Idk who else is on Houstons NDL squad but its about to become the Peter Julius show very soon.

19. Utah Jazz (via who tf knows) — Jadyn Jenkins — C — Virginia
Analysis: Ralph comes through and snags an uber defensive big with this pick. If he does nothing else except block shots and play defense he will probably be a 4th big for a very long time. So thats a positive get here. Idk a lot of this draft is looking for niche role players and im here for it. It would be fun if someone just leaned in to a big like this for once for the science of it all. Camp his post def, blocks, and strength and see how close to A+ he gets lol. I guess we dont all have RP to burn but hey it seems fun in theory. Yea he probably is top 5 in blocks next year in the NDL, solid pick.

20. LA Lakers (via DAL) — Martray Bagley — SG — UCLA
Analysis:

21. Portland Trailblazers(via PHI) — Skip to my Deux — PG — Houston
Analysis:

22. Sacramento Kangz (from UTA) — Colton Hiller — SG — Syracuse
Analysis:

23. Washington Bullets — Terrell Jackson — PF — Baylor
Analysis:

24. Boston Celtics(via ATL) — Caleb Coolman — PG — Northwestern
Analysis:

25. New Jersey Nets (from NYK) — Nijuan Harris — SG — Florida
Analysis:

26. Milwaukee Bucks (via BOS) — Todd Mihm — PF — SDSU
Analysis:

27. LA Clippers — Ethan Mott — PF — Florida
Analysis:

28. Orlando Magic — RESCIND
29. Milwaukee Bucks — Miles Simpson — SF — Tennessee
