TL;DR - free RPs for a quick post!

Get these done before the tip of next season!

Every year, every GM's got his studs and it's duds, his craftiest moves and most embarrassing flops. For 75RPs, fill out the answers to the following questions and post it in the thread - think of these as your post-season Dundies, awarding each of the first 4 to players on your team, and then reflect on some of the key moments from your year. Post these whenever! Just get em done before sim 1. Offseason questionnaire will be posted later on.

Once you've posted, DO NOT claim your RP in the RP thread - we will calculate at the end.

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Cooper Flagg. There were some understandable issues as he acclimated to the league, but he took all the steps forward that he needed to in 2029. It's fun to describe him as "solid" in addition to being talented. He might not be able to carry a team offensively, but he's very well-rounded and the shooting was more than playable this year (eFG% from .482 to .501 is a massive difference at his volume).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Cooper Flagg. We love the steals, we trust the perimeter defense, and I'm hoping that an extra strength boost will fuel his ability to guard bigger players at the three. Well-rounded.

MOST IMPROVED: Onyeka Okongwu. I dunno, I like him, we played much better when starting him. This is a sub-tweet to Joe, whose "ratings whore" comments offend us! (Even though they might be accurate ...)

SIXTH MAN: Cason Wallace. He doesn't shoot well enough to play shooting guard. He can't play point guard. He doesn't bother to rebound. BUT, he's a sweet backup point guard, stabilized the team, and went surprisingly insane over the last ten games. No one will want to play him more than 20 minutes, but no one will want to play him less than 10 minutes.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Killian Hayes. He really is a winner, isn't he? He shined in Portland, did very well with the Knicks, and obviously contributed to the Nets taking a step forward. To Quady's previous point, Swamp Steven has been fielding nonstop escalations from Killian's infuriated agent after the Luka deal. (I don't blame him.) Killian is known as a game manager, but his perimeter defense is under-appreciated. It's not outrageous to suggest he'll be much better value than some "winners" of the upcoming FA Point Guard sweepstakes. We'll get him a great landing spot (most likely) and that team will absolutely adore him as well, even if he's unfairly viewed a consolation prize.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Robert Williams I and Robert Williams II - I know "win-win" gets thrown around but I thought GX & Kittles had perfect alignment for the "Day 99" trade. GX is poised to take a huge step forward with strong big men and flexibility with prospects. This had cascading effects on the Nets, however, as it cleared money and also took pressure off of a stronger sell (which we really didn't want, to be honest). Hitting 42 wins was nice and ironically wouldn't have happened without selling an A-rebounding center. It's not the end all, be all, but this is an incredibly difficult game and it was nice to see a good framework around Cooper without needing to sell the farm. Until we did.

REGRETS: Was really, really disappointed by the slow start. Kittles needed to make better depth chart adjustments sooner. There were too many issues with bench alignment and unnecessarily weak defensive minutes. Thankfully, we brought up the Long Island coach at the All-Star break and greatly improved defensively, leading to a strong 30-16 post-ASB record. That said, finishing only four games behind an insanely good 8-seed in Cleveland (even with the injuries) isn't a gap that I feel like we could have made up. Good learning experiences overall!

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Ant
His points ticked up nearly 4ppg even with a full season of MPJ and Maxey next to him. He led our team in scoring and was top 5 in SLN in steals.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: AD
He's still incredible, 4.1 stocks to 1.2 TOs. Elite rebounding and his shooting percentages keep ticking up as he ages.

MOST IMPROVED: MPJ
His jump shot improved almost 5% which led to an increase in his overall FG%. His TOs drastically came down, about .6 from the previous two years. With about 65-70 pot left in the tank (thanks superscout) it wouldn't surprise me to see him get to A+ outside with some additional under the hood jumps as well.

SIXTH MAN: Chuma Okeke
He was an elite 1/2/3 supersub after acquiring him at the deadline. Good enough handles to play point guard and often would rack up 20+ points when getting the most minutes at the 1

BIGGEST SURPRISE: MPJs turnovers coming down so much.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Maxey not offering another sweetheart resigning

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Chuma, he added scoring, rebounding, and low TOs off the bench.

REGRETS: Not necessarily a regret but Tyler and I had some good Kyrie trade discussions. Not sure if it would have been enough to beat the Raptors but would of made it a much more interesting playoff run in DC

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Josh Okogie - goddamn what an absolute 2 way unit. Was worried the offense would be fucked without brunson, and though it wasnt as good as I wanted it to be, Okogie kinda held it together

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Anthony Black - that dude is a beast!

MOST IMPROVED: Anthony Black ! He was actually efficient scoring for the first time ever

SIXTH MAN: Dybantsa - he held it down and was super efficient for the first half of the season. Great at the 1-3 supersub role

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Our scorching hot start. I thought we had a slightly worse team than last year due to losing a lot of depth at the wings but we were kicking the shit out of a lot of teams

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Our second half stumble, falling from 3 to 8 was brutal, then having to play the eventual champs in the first round is just not fun

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Josh Okogie, he nice AF!

REGRETS: Not going balls in for Lauri. If we did so, would've probably stayed close to the top of the east or at least not the 8 seed, and I feel like we'd have a shot at the title given the fight we gave the Raps (closest 4-1 series ive ever seen)
FOR THE LAND - believe!

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Wemby. After last year's disheartening Game 7 pooping of the pants, Victor went on a complete tear in the playoffs and fully earned his status as the best center in the league, super lucky to have him and get to enjoy this experience.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: I think our defensive success was really a team effort, going to give it to Wemby Amen and Traore as a three-way tie, they all had their moments. I actually feel like Wemby should block more shots for the sake of realism, hoping he has some TC juice left.

MOST IMPROVED: Think this has to go to Nolan Traore — when I traded Fultz I thought Traore would be ready but I did not know he was going to emerge as a combination of Steve Nash and Jeff McInnis at the same time. Love this guy and he more than earned his max extension.

SIXTH MAN: Gotta be CMB, who humbly accepted a bench role and reduced minutes this year for the sake of the team. He will go back into a starting spot next year, but he's an amazing role player and the fact he can moonlight at backup small forward somewhat competently is really nice too. Special shoutout to three-time champ Troy Brown, lol

BIGGEST SURPRISE: I think just how well everything clicked. Wasn't sure how losing Fultz's scoring was going to change the team composition but it was gratifying to see guys like Traore and Clifford who are 905 NDL alums step up

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Losing Traore for 30 days, didn't matter grand scheme but was hoping to break our franchise wins record, alas

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Deandre Ayton was an incredible fit for us — we were a way better team this year IMO than the year before due in large part to his rebounding and awesome efficiency. Will be sad to see him go in free agency but he will have a place in the hearts of Torontonians forever.

REGRETS: None other than getting Xtracted for the 2031 Dallas second
free healthcare has never been more important

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Reed Sheppard! First team all league and First Team All Defense. It's been so so long since I've felt the warm embrace of 1.3 bpg from the PG position and it feels so good.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Justise! Justice for Justise. People (me) thought he was cooked after he had that bad camp a couple seasons ago but he put up this glorious two-way line this season: 15.4 7.4 0.9 1.1 2.1 0.9 .474 .599 .311

MOST IMPROVED: Chet! Woulda been MVP if not for Reed's breakout, but Chet posted career highs in points, blocks, steals, FTs and rebounds while anchoring us as our top option for most of the year.

SIXTH MAN: Lonnie Walker Anfernee Simons. What a guy - worth at least 3 lottos, no question. Above 50% from the floor the entire season and was huge as a starter while KD was hurt.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Winning Game 7 on the road in Orlando! First time we've been to the ECF in 7 or 8 seasons.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Losing to the eventual champs after Chet got hurt for a critical home game we ended up losing by 7.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Nerlens! His dumb ass retired instead of letting me pay him lots of money

REGRETS: Nothin! Thought we put together a hell of a year when I projected us to have like 43 wins.

TEAM AWARDS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Hansen Yang! Had a great first year in SLN and excited to see him next year with another +8 in camps

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Hansen, budding stock lord?

MOST IMPROVED: I don't even know who was on my roster from the season before other than Josh Minott and he doesn't play, so I guess... Labaron?

SIXTH MAN: Ian Jackson was kind of a fun backup 1/2. Maybe would have been good with a +8 inside?

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Hansen being this solid out of the gate!

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Not losing 2 more games :(

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Okogie for Brunson for Brown series!

REGRETS: Not losing 2 more games :( Maybe should have stripped down the roster even further?

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Has to be Melo, 2nd team all SLN PG, continues to be a top 10 player in the league, I boosted his inside and strength and his scoring ticked up towards the end of the season, interested to see how he fares after a full season of the boosts.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: I dont think anyone can be awarded this, a lot of stock lords but the defense was abysnmal down the stretch with oPPG ticking up from 115 to 120 post all-star break.

MOST IMPROVED: Derik Queen continues to get better and better, I want to see one more pop from him in camp if we can get lucky.

SIXTH MAN: I guess gradey dick who spent a lot of time as a super sub this season but between, dick Toumani and mcdaniels no one seemed to fit seamlessly there this season.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: How good lebron continues to be, at age 44. Oh and Bronnys Pot still being 94 lol.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: The entire second half of the year, something just wasnt working or didnt click with my DCs, Lebrons numbers were good at the 4 but im guessing that was a contributing factor.

TRADE/ACQUISITION OF THE YEAR: Getting off KATs salary. Loved him as a player but it was a big contract, and I would have been in cap hell since lebron didnt retire.

REGRETS: cant live with any.
I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know i’ll never see - Luthen Rael - Spurs GM
