TRADE DEADLINE IDEAS

Had to cut this short due to some work but thought these would be fun thought-starters with the deadline coming any time!

Cavs Trade

Pistons Trade
Darius Bazley

Why? Cavs should strike while the iron is hot. The team is good enough at PG, SG and SF to win a title but the frontcourt is mediocre by contender standards and would be exposed against the Eastern elite. Bazley would be a perfect fit to steal some extra possessions. The Pistons, meanwhile, are toiling in mediocrity and taking a stab at a former top pick seems like good asset management.

Warriors Trade

Why? This might be one pick short, but this would put the Cleveland frontcourt over the top and would be a move I’d be pushing for if I were Manty. The Warriors are in no-man’s land and there is no point in keeping a 31-year-old expiring past the deadline. These teams seem like natural trade partners.

Hornets Trade

Why? This would be a cool way to cap off a GMOTY-type campaign for Bobby, who is finally benefitting from some point differential luck. The West stinks so the Clipps still have a chance to make the finals, but I would be worried about my 3rd big and backup Wings in the playoffs. Williams is a temporary upgrade over Beringer and Buzelis is Duncan without the D+ defense. For Charlotte, Beringer is the most valuable dude in the trade – still sporting A potential – and this is an obvious value win.

Kings Trade

Why? Tounde is the platonic ideal of a Sacramento Kang and is bound to live in Sacramento at some point. He fits the inside/balanced future lineup with KING Gibson and Khani Rooths. But his game isn’t for everyone, and that type of team is hard to build around. He will be expiring next year and PHX uses this opportunity to convert Tounde into several assets.

Nuggets Trade

Why? Memphis doesn’t have a huge win total this year but the East is very much up for grabs in the playoffs if Josh wants to take it. His wings are too redundant and he could use a defensive force. Rissacher would be a great fit. This doesn’t stifle Denver’s ability to stay competitive now, but it provides the team with some potentially tasty 1sts.
