GMOTY 2026-27
Congrats Grizzlies and all of those who received votes. Learned a lot from each of these teams as I get deeper into the SLN waters. Appreciate you.Hoff wrote: June 29th, 2025, 3:23 pm Congrats to @Josh on winning GMOTY!

My ballot was:
(1) Merv
(2) Josh
(3) Nick
... though I felt like there was a valid argument for six or seven teams!
Rationale
Merv
You get points in my book for casual excellence. The Magic coaxed a lot out of Scoot, were nimble in the trade market, and won an amazing 62 games in a stacked conference. With Rui at the heart of it all, Merv had an answer for everything.
Josh
The Grizzlies demonstrated incredible balance & shot-making. They were solid on both sides of the ball & made great Point A to Point B deals that put the team in a great place not only for 2026, but also for the seasons to come.
Nick
Just a stocky marvel. Love how this team is built. Have been crunching some numbers recently - which scream in all caps NOT ENOUGH DJJ TALK. It was fun to see SoNicks capitalize on great Cam Whitmore development too.
To me, Jordo could've been third or even second (would love for this team to win the chip) but I felt like some of the other paths were just a touch more creative.
Congrats again!

Voted Josh / Jordo / Jesse
Josh had the classic switch-flip season which I think was worthy of the award, but unlike some of the switch flips we've seen recently, it looks like the Grizz are poised to compete for the foreseeable future with a young, retainable core. Jordo had a great season and looks to have built a playoff beast with a few trades and the KAT signing, but think Josh's rebuild is more sustainable / had more positive value. Thought Jesse and Merv were distant thirds but both had fun, good seasons - Merv deserves recognition for the Bagley trade and for taking a team from good to best in the league, and the Kings were awesome after his flurry of deadline moves.

I went Jordo / Jesse / Josh
I really liked Jordo’s deal for LaMelo, one of the best young PGs in the league. He had the highest increase in wins this season. He got some good free agency luck and was able to experiment with DCs to find the optimal lineup. Jesse’s trade for Aaron Gordon and Lively was incredible and in classic Jesse fashioned he flipped most of his team this season. I thought his lineup going into the playoffs was very good but Nick squashed those dreams. Josh was the classic switch flip given the new tanking rules. Picked up some very good players in Goga, Dyson, and Jaylen.

Voted Jordo/Nick/Josh
Thought Jordo was aggressive. He got a top 3 PG in the league who is a one man machine. Kept tinkering with the roster during the year. Tried a bunch of DCs. Then made the LeBron/Hart deal and went on a heater to close the year. He did all of this while keeping his two prized assets in Dick and Queen. The roster is sustainable for the next few years. Expect a lot of Ws in San Antone
