2026 SLN TC Analysis
2026 SLN TC Analysis
The 2026 season is upon us and we had another year of big TCs. Here’s this year’s edition of my analysis, with a new set of stat excluding Handles (given the impact of Handles movement can be such a mixed bag), and a deep dive on every rookie’s TC.
Reminder again of how I calculate stat totals. When I refer to “TCΔ”, I count a letter grade move as 1. I do not include changes in Potential in these calcs. When I show “Stat Totals” for players, I calculate those as a sum of all letter grades, excluding potential, based on the following scale.

TC Impacts by player position, age, etc:

In aggregate, across 354 total players that participated in TC, 114 gained for +161 TCΔ, 108 declined for -164 TCΔ, and the remaining 112 held flat. So in total, the league saw -3 TCΔ. Note, I failed to include a row for 42 year olds in the impact by Age chart, so LeBron, who was net neutral, was accidentally missed there but is included as data in all the other data cuts.
This is quite a bit worse in aggregate than last year, which had 208 TC gainers for +208 total and a league wide +45 TCΔ. But it’s difficult to assess how this was impacted by a bunch of potential variables so wouldn’t read too much into this.
We sadly lost our only A+ Defender and A+ Rebounder (RIP to my Detroit A+ big boys).
TC Impact by teams, divisions, conferences:

In a shift from last season, TC gains were much more heavily weighted to the West, which saw +18 total across +6 for the Midwest and +12 for the Pacific. The Clippers, Blazers, Mavericks, and Grizzlies were the major gainers, with the rest of the West closer to net neutral.
The East saw -15 aggregate declines, largely driven by the Atlantic. Really tough TC for the Heat in particular. The Central was closer to net neutral on a mix of bigger gainers (Pacers, Pistons, Hawks) offset by some losers (Charlotte had a pretty tough one although their core stars remain intact).
TC Impact excluding the impact of Handles:

Excluding handles from these analyses, things naturally look a bit more net neutral. The Pacific (and really the Clippers and Blazers in particular) gains were a bit skewed towards Handles so we’ll see what that really means for their players’ performance. The East looks a little better excluding Handles, with the Central seeing net gains and the Atlantic seeing less significant net declines.
TC Impact by Rookie:

As noted on the boards, Darryn Peterson took a massive +6, proving Bobby right for picking him #1. Other big gainers include Ament (#4), Philon (#8), Daniels (#13) and Haugh (#16). Bummer for Brown (#10), Koehler (#11), and Henderson (#24).
