I’ve been meaning to respond for a while and have consistently forgotten.

My main thought is as it has always been, this award should be scrapped in favor of a more inclusive ESPY/Oscars style approach that can properly give plaudits to GMs for a variety of things like DC use, trades, wins delta, FA, etc.

On this concept, I think this just adds a huge layer of bureaucracy and creates a bunch of jobs to an end I’m not really sure is needed. It sounds fine in theory but will probably be a pain in the ass trying to coordinate in practice and will probably lead to GMs just making quick ranked choices to move on. If we are making jobs to wrangle together votes etc, I’d rather make jobs to wrangle in bids in the offseason since that can actually hold up the league.

As it stands now, I’ll abstain from voting because I don’t feel remotely for or against the idea. If I’m the one vote keeping us from 20, I’ll vote yes since it’s clearly what the group wants.

Rule is PASSED, will come into effect for the 2025-26 season. For next steps to implement:
1. We select a GMOTY committee chair
2. Each tree assigns a GMOTY committee representative

regardless of who the selections are i would love to hear a pod at the end of the season with the members debating GMOTY, alot of transparency and i think its good content and particularly interesting to listen to
