Merv wrote: December 24th, 2024, 8:51 am I’ve long been a proponent of a cheaper camp however I think it should only be years 4-6 at most and capped at +6, maybe even +4. So I’m not sure how to vote because I’m not on board with these specific changes but like the concept.

And to Matt’s aside, I think he’s likely 100% accurate that we won’t care once it’s not someone like…TLC? So maybe it’s worth waiting through a few random name seasons to decide if we still feel like there’s an urge for this.
Voting no as is. Think +6 cap is needed

Definitely open to capping this at +6 and I've edited the original proposal as such. Based on the yes vote comments so far, it doesn't seem like changing the cap from +8 to +6 would move any votes from Yes to No, but if you voted Yes and that's the case for you, please feel free to change your vote (I've updated the poll to enable vote switching as well).

I originally voted yes, and would still vote yes, feel like it makes FA more interesting going after someone uncamped without having to pour your entire RP load on em

Voted NO a while ago but think I forgot to write why. Since it looks like this may get passed, I thought it was worth typing something out. TLDR: NAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Part of the secret sauce of the league right now is how good of a job Ashes has done at maintaining the player landscape and how the current camp system has aided in keeping things in check. This change would have a negative impact on ratings inflation.

The explanation for the rule change actually acknowledges this fact: "This is too bad for the rest of the league, as we miss out on players who might otherwise be much more interesting had they been camped."

By definition, a portion of the player population - who otherwise would not have been upgraded - would now have an opportunity to receive boosts. More players going from "uninteresting!" to "interesting!" is no bueno. Uninteresting = not that good or useful. Interesting = good and useful. Too many good and useful players, over time, is what torpedoes leagues. And ironically, it leads to fewer "interesting" players too....b/c role players can't impact winning when 1/2 the player pool has the same baseline of good ratings.

Players bust all the time in real life. Teams fail to develop players ALL the time in real life. I don't see how this change helps the league at all or makes the league more realistic. Plenty of players still breakout before years 4-7 as it is without artificial rating increases.

After stewing on this more I agree with Jesse. The mechanic to camp these guys later already exists if you're a big baller with RP. I feel like it favors too small a portion of the GM population to cheapen it
