Tanking Length

Something needs to happen. Teams tanking for 5+ seasons is pretty unacceptable.

This is an opportunity to discuss (civilly) a solution to this issue.

With no consensus, I will come up with something.

Does the flattening of lotto odds in the upcoming drafts help incentivize not fully bottoming out?

IRL, GMs are typically afforded 3 years of tanking or being bad before getting the axe

I think tanking is part of the game, but we can also create guidelines resulting in length of tank allowed. We can even have a tank year tracker (not tank police like looking at DCs).

Could do something similar to MLB where after consecutive top 7 or so picks you can’t pick higher then 10 for X amount of years

Tanking is part of the game, I agree, but I will still police DCs because you need to be playing your best players.

Something like:

Tanking
1. No Inside Offense.
2. Nav Rule (You must sign appropriate players to fill positions on your DC)
3. Start your best players and maintain reasonable option choices. There is room for experimentation at my discretion.
4. You may tank "penalty" free for 4 seasons. On your 5th season in the lottery, your pick will be dropped X spots. Any attempt to circumvent this penalty via trade or other means will be met with scrutiny and additional penalties.
5. Roster or DC violations of the aforementioned rules will result in a -1 season to your penalty clock.

Something to that effect is what I am thinking. I am open to continued discussion for more creative solutions.
