2012-13 Offseason Questionnaire

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.

Tough draft to be lotto 3-10, but very fun draft outside of that. Everyone and their mothers think Giannis and Rudy will be gods. I loved my MCW and Roberson pick ups. Very fun players who have good niche potentials. I don't mind drafting a PG that mentions Shaun Livingston in his notes, and a SG who can probably play every position on the court and generate stocks and rebounds. Outside of that, Trey Burke going so late will be fun to look back on 3 years from now.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

2 offseasons in a row with nothing going on. I have a bunch of young players I like and 2 young core guys that can be stars one day. Part of me wants to retool around these guys and part of me wants to win now. I'm so confused. Weird market too. I went after a few guys but just got outbid in the end, and now I am regretting not just going for it.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

I want to see less TOs and a little bit more efficiency from Holiday. There is a ton under the hood for Whiteside. Hopefully, it shows through in his public ratings! I'm excited to see how MCW and Roberson turns out. Also, for some reason, I love Derrick Williams.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers - Lebron. Watch out for the Celtics though.
Central: Fuck it. Give me Pacers. Solid moves this offseason and a Jimmy Butler supercamp coming.
Midwest: Nuggets - Bringing back a full season of the same team. Rockets getting older.
Pacific: Kings - Dwade, BJ, Metta

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Giving up the #4 pick for Kevin Love! (I guess I am just salty I didn't get him).

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?

Please be MCW!

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.

I didn't even know he had a stip. That's sad. I have to get back into it.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Underrated: Al Jefferson. I feel like nobody still talks about him.

Knicks getting a 2 seed. I have no idea what the Giants do at 6... but I hope it's OL. Yankees look hot. Rangers president cup winners.

I can't wait to see how Giannis develops. I see his as Eddie Griffin but better. Which is FUCKING CRAZY.
Glen Rice Jr is the Truth.
Gobert will be just like Darko I bet.
Very curious what happens with MCW... I always thought he'd be better.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Pretty meh, tbh. I was forced to pay up to retain Darko, which means I need to make an unsavory move of the fringes to make my cap work. Not great, Bob. The goal for the season is a chip; 29-7 after switching to balanced bodes well for us. We CAN BE in the mix this year... we'll see where things go.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
I am really hoping that Davis Bertans pops in TC. His supercamp is going to be integral for our depth.
I want to see Marvin's B pot make him pop again! He's never had a big TC, which is crazy to think about.
Hopefully my vets hold the line.

4. Who wins each division and why?
Atlantic: Celtics. I think the young guys continue to progress and they get there.
Central: Bucks. Can't bet against them with Durant right now. Bulls will be there as always, and I'm very curious to see how Detroit and Indiana look following TC.
Midwest: Nuggets. I want to say Jazz, but I'm a realist. We went 29-7 after switching to balanced, but I don't think that pace is good enough to catch these apex predators.
Pacific: Kangz! D Wade is a god. Jesse has a true-blue top-level star for the first time since he had the twin towers. Can't wait to see how Jesse conquers us all.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
I guess none were complete surprises having either been in those discussions on the losing end or had convos with parties involved as a sounding board. The one I'm most excited about is Tonger flipping the switch and moving for Bosh. If camps hit, they could be incredibly dangerous.

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Glen Rice Jr. What a stud!

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
I've heard what it really is, so I'll veer far from it here...

**UNGA BUNGA BUDDIES** Every offseason, Adams hits the gym with one of his teammates, granting a pre-TC choice of +5 pot or +3 any other stat to any non-Australian teammate under the age of 30. This bonus may not be given to the same teammate in consecutive seasons.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Yao Ming is overrated and soon to be washed.
Al Jefferson is probably pretty underrated. He's so cool.

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
LET'S GO HEAT! I THINK WE GOT THIS! I AM NERVOUS! BUT WE GOT THIS! For real though, I think we're tough out when the rubber hits the road. Bam matches up well against Embiid, and I think Jimmy will do Jimmy things and FUCK EVERYONE UP.
Cardinals are sad. Always hurt. One day we'll fly again. Maybe this season?
THE BEARS BETTER NOT FUCK THIS UP. That's all I'll say. Best I've felt about them since ever tbh.

Just started Tokyo Vice and it's great! Was pleasantly surprised. Going to start Shogun soon, but we'll see when that happens... NBA playoffs are upon us!
Back addicted to league again which is actually a blast since the map change at the beginning of the year. I want to play more Hell Divers 2, but I also want to hit diamond
Almost done with Mother of Learning, which has been a blast. Pleasant change up in tone from a lot of what I've been reading the past decade or so. Feels like a much smarter Harry Potter in some ways.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
i feel ok. I could've kept competing for one more season probably, but wanted to turn it in while players were still valuable. I feel ready to tank again. See meme at bottom

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
I got a couple of young boys now. I am excited about Plumlee. Thabeet and Thaddeus could get some boost too.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers. LBJ one more year (at least)
Central: Bulls
Midwest: Rocket unless I missed a player leaving? Best point differential in the league last year
Pacific: Kings. Think Jesse will use his remaining picks to create a contender

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Tonger flipping the switch! Bosh move was huge!

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Mccollum seems like a pretty ideal sln player to me. Will be cool to see how important strength by seeing how effective adams is

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
Ending season on Adams' team with expiring contract increases loyalty score by 15 and reduces greed by 15

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
overrated - pau gasol hasn't been that good for a few years!
underrated - KD. he may already be the best player in the league. jamal crawford is crazy good. Also kawhi is so good already. These are big names but still underrated

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Thought there was a clear top 3 and drop off after that. I was pretty happy to get Oladipo as part of the Bosh return -- he profiles most similarly to fellow (for two days' worth) Pacer Jimmy Butler of anyone in like the last ten drafts, with nearly-identical ratings. I'm pretty optimistic on him and think he has a good shot to end up as the best non-Giannis guy in this draft. I was also pumped to end up with Trey Burke at 28 -- thought he definitely should have gone in the top 20

Not a hot take, but The Greek Freak is going to be awesome - with his jumper/handles profile, he'll probably sim like Shaq-lite at his peak

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Happy with our offseason. Haven't had much time to focus on SLN the past few seasons with work, so figured it was a good time to tear it down. Goal for this coming season is to finish with the worst record and end up with Jokic or Embiid. Knowing my history of lotto luck, I'll probably end up with Bruno Caboclo (https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/8 ... away_from/)

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
I'd like to see Oladipo and Burke organically improve, since they won't get any RCs this season. Otherwise, I want the rest of my team to get SO MUCH WORSE in TC

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers. LeBron at PG man
Central: Bulls. Feels like they've been on top forever
Midwest: Nuggets. Full season of Steph-Monta-Melo should win the division
Pacific: Sonics. Nick is good at this

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Portland trading three firsts to get out of a bad cap situation

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Dipo! Nearly-identical (slightly better) ratings than Jimmy Buckets at draft

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
Just like real life with Russ, I'd bet having Adams on your team boosts your PG's rebounds/game since Big Steve's such a class act.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Overrated: Rubio. Don't really understand all the hype. Nice steals, but otherwise he's a low volume, average true shooting efficiency scorer at the most important position for Outside offenses (in a league full of 'em)
Underrated: Lou Williams. I know he's well-regarded, but this dude is basically Jamal Crawford-lite. He would be a top-5 starting PG if moved into that role full time

Knicks 2 seed!!! I will be naming my first-born Jalen
Giants are probably going to mess up the draft next week. Keeping my fingers crossed that we take Odunze or Nabers

Super pumped to get Nerlens. He looks to be a stock machine. Hope Seth has some hidden potential and can be hidden on D and light it up on O. Love the Steven Adams stip, kinda wish he fell to me, but I think Nerlens will help the tank this year

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
We are making some sign and trades to acquire more assets to help us flip the switch in a year or two. I plan on losing more games and getting a top pick this year, fingers crossed

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Would love to see more big gains from Harry Barnes and Crowder. Interested in seeing how Sully does in his NDL TC too. Would love to see a bump from my rookies with B potential too in Nerlens and Curry

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers - Lebron that is all. I think the Celtics and heat will be competitive
Central: Hard to bet against the bulls, though expect a lot of fight from the bucks and the newly competitive pacers. And I think the hawks are gonna be sneaky spicy with Dirk
Midwest: Rockets, they havent changed much and just won the ship. Hard to bet against that though
Pacific: Blazers though maybe the Kings with DWade have enough fire power to topple them


5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Either the string of trades and signings the pacers made now they look competitive AF, or the weird Pau for Dirk trade. That pau for dirk trade is going to be super interesting

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Hoping for it to be Nerlens, but probably Oladipo due to his two way game

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.
If someone injures one of his teammates, Adams will injure a member of the other team for half that period cuz Steven adams takes no shit and is a complete badass

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Hot take, both Dirk and Pau equally. I feel like they've fallen off a bit, so that was a fun swap and hope it works out for both of my central brethren. For under-rated, I'll go with Greg Oden. So what he shoots the ball and turns it over, he is a game wrecker with his rebounding, getting fouled, and blocks

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
At least the wizards have top draft odds, though a very week draft. Transfer portal season has me as a nova fan very confused/depressed at where this organization is going. Hope the redskins don't fuck up their draft

Giannis and Gobert will both be good... but uncertain how good. I genuinely think Oladipo will be good. Other than those 3, I like Anthony Bennett (for the memes, it would be hilarious if he were good in SLN) and Covington.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Had a LOT riding on FA. Not the best outcome, not the worst one. Obviously hoped to get one of the huge names but struck out like everyone else. I think I had bids for Darko, Diop, Deron, and BRoy accepted and got the last two. Luck of the draw I guess. But I still got two players who make my team significantly better, which I absolutely needed to do with trading 4 FRPs for Bosh, which I agreed to prior to FA. Goals... championship.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Banking on big jumps from Jimmy and Drummond. Also need limited decline from Hart and OO. Otherwise, I think most of the guys will be relatively stable.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers. Lebron is an SLN cheat code.
Central:
Midwest: Nuggets. Think this will be the Nuggets. Excited to see a full season of the 3 headed monster.
Pacific: Blazers. Have some real depth after the Marion trade.

5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
The Heat going crazy and trading like 5 FRPs for Bogut and Duncan. Thought scoops would wait one more season before flipping but here we go!!!!

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Sleepers: I think Dedmon(PHX/R1-P18) will be looked at as a steal eventually. Campazzo not going until the 2nd round seems absurd to me. Abrines looks pretty juicy and somehow lasted until the 2nd. The "slow" tag is really causing a slide of big men. Merv probably got a massive steal in Len (ORL/R1-P27) who had the 12th highest scouted pot. Trey Burke who could be in the Bassy Tel mold didnt go until 28th as well (Heimer).
Busts: McLemore, im all for due process but if its true? GGs. Usually I think some drafts are wonky but overall I like how this draft went and I think there was massive value all over the board. Sure I wouldve liked to see Bennett and Bazzy in the NDL but sometimes that A pot is too enticing. I think most players in this draft find a role.
My draft: Who tf knows. I walked into my first pick (R1-P17) thinking Dedmon...Dedmon...NDL?...Plumlee?...Delly. I wanted to get another Center in the draft and instead I read Dellys notes and said fuck it. Mantypas saw me the next day and instantly asked, "But why Delly? You already have two young PGs and he is already 23." No, yea, I love the player but based on the rebuild and what I have the pick made no sense. Muscala though?! Im surprised he lasted to that pick, I really am. Told GX this but I had plans for Tony Snell and he took the rug out from under me lol. Crabbe is a nice consolation.
Other Drafts: Jwoo's draft was legit imo. Walking away with Adams(certified team healer) and Riceballs(certified bucket) is all the vibes. Thought Tyler trading back and recovering all his picks was nicely done. Ive heard about the Nerlens scouting reports so ill give it up to Mantypas for drafting him at 5. I really liked what Josh did with what he had and buying into the 1st twice.

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
Good? Was looking to just do some S&T work(which failed) and resign some guys I liked. I somewhat messed up giving Beli a QO, but he could tank command or I could leave him in the NDL and he could be a steady presence for them as well. Embiid? Jokic? Nah im playing, im just trying to get the most value for what I have and enjoy sims again like I started to do after trading Monta.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
Super surprised by the NDL guys, Sanders keeps evolving, Beli regressed, Shved has played too much PG, and Mike Scott is the same. Combined though, their powers are cohesive. Blatche can do what he wants at this point. Im glad Muscala and Delly look good. Bayless keeps taking steps forward, as does Lin. Harris is still so fucking young and fully camped, so I hope he keeps grinding away. I wonder what needs to happen for Chandler to move forward. He is disliked but what I saw was a really good player. Lopez, fuck it, just have fun my guy.

Atlantic: Philly...Bron
Central: Chicago, not too much if any change? Jimmer SC
Midwest: Nuggets, year two of the three headed monster
Pacific: Trailblazers, Quady just keeps going for it and Nick lost BRoy


5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Brandon Roy going +4
Trailblazers hitting another lever and adding Yi
Heimer(Hawks) getting Joakim for nothing

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Adams, Nerlens, Rice, Hardaway, KCP, Plumlee, Abrines

I really thought he was just going to raise the happiness level of everyone on the team to 90+. His actual stip is legit though.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
Overrated is probs Kobe for me and has been.
Underrated is maybe like David Lee at this point?

1. Draft thoughts? Sleepers, busts, your draft, other drafts, whatever.
Yet again I was basically without picks so didn't pay a ton of attention but sounds like there's been lots of hate on this draft class so we'll see how it shakes out

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?
I like Dirk but needed to split his contract up and get better on defense / rebounding so made the move for Pau. I was really psyched to get Diop back on what ultimately didn't end up being an insane contract. And JO coming off the bench means I've much deeper now at the 4/5. Ibaka at the three is a little bit of an experiment, basically just hoping he can be a very good defender and better rebounder than his C letter grade would suggest when going up against smaller 3s and otherwise funneling the offense towards Kyrie and Lou Will while limiting turnovers. Batum had a decent TC and looks like he will be solid in a backup three role. And then JR / Shump are maybe not the greatest 1/2 backups but should be serviceable. So all in I like the roster I constructed and I'm hoping to get closer to ~50 wins this season and be solidly playoff-bound instead of competing until the last day for the last spot in the East.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?
TC went great. in combo with the supercamp, Kyrie now at A+ outside and hopefully reducing turnovers - he will really make or break my team since he's still on his rookie contract. otherwise Batum +2 and Shump +1 were nice and my old bigs all held up decently well.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: Sixers. No way around Bron Bron
Central: Bulls. Matt always knows what he's doing and TP is incredible. Hoping my Pistons can chip away at the dominance this season though.
Midwest: Rockets. returning champs
Pacific: Sonics. Nick seems to always find a way.


5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?
Pacers making moves to flip the switch - love to see it

6. Outside of Giannis and Gobert, who will have the best career of everyone in this draft class?
Oladipo looks nice

maybe boosts to loyalty / reductions in greed - but TBD how much that really means based on Tonger's analysis

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?
overrated - I'm probably salty but Dirk. I think I experienced the first year of his real falloff last season. But also might have just been that Kyrie is high volume and cannibalized Dirk touches, so idk... this season should be telling
underrated - Diop. again a personal pick here now that I've got him. and I know he's pretty well regarded in the Big Butts board. but his complete lack of desire to play offense while being such a force on the glass and on defense is really incredible and he does all of that on such an attractive contract relative to the other elite big men. He knows his strengths and weaknesses

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).
The playoff seeding worked out as well as it could for my Pacers - I think they have a legitimate shot at taking down the Bucks, especially if Giannis can't play.
Cubbies are off to a hot start this season.

Shogun is awesome - can't wait for finale next week. otherwise, just started Masters of the Air. Frankly didnt love the first episode but will stick with it.

Didn't really follow along as I was out of town. Sixers looking for some future FRPs if anyone wants to get us back in the next draft lol!

2. How do you feel about your offseason, and what are your goals for this coming season?

Didn't make too many moves but am honestly okay with us not re-signing Jermaine. Really looking to see Hawes in the starting role.

3. Thoughts on TC? What improvements do you want to see from your team?

Hawes grew like a beast RE stocks and shooting. Numbers starting to look better than Jermaine's in fact. Iggy's stocks and boards are up and looking forward to seeing him in a starting role this season.

4. Who wins each division and why?

Atlantic: 76ers - Staying confident and betting on my guys. They are hungry for the 'Chip this season more than they ever have been before.
Central: Bulls - Still the toughest competition to us in the East. Didn't lose any of their core and looking strong yet again.
Midwest: Nuggets - Steph and Monta looking V scary after preseason 2.
Pacific: Blazers - Still looking feisty. Would love to make a deal for Dwight


5. What offseason move (trade, signing, etc.) surprised you the most (might need to wait til after FA)?

Seems like a lot of the experienced and Title Winning GMs are still in tank mode so should be some crazy moves flying around at the beginning of the season.

Steven Adams

7. Come up with a creative idea for what Steven Adams' stip means.

Gives everyone of his teammates an auto +10 to their potential.

8. Who are the current most overrated and underrated players in the league?

Overrated: CP3
Underrated: Spencer Hawes

9. Thoughts on your real life sports team(s).

Sixers survived that play-in game and ready to roll against the Knicks in round 1... should be a great series. Yanks are looking great too.
