Welcome back gents! 2 years of SLN, two full decades of seasons… and it’s still getting dusty with nostalgia over here in the historian’s office. Its time for another All Time SLN team matchup. Last October, Jayant and I got on separate pod teams comprised of fellow GMs and drafted our super teams....
A TREE IS PLANTED:
As we all well know, Skillz played this game from the early years of junior high, back when Geocities were a thing (still have absolutely zero idea what these are but Ashes talks about them like they are prehistoric). Skillz had a...
For the 2 year anniversary, I dove through the record books to find the TOP 20 ALL-TIME CAREER LEADERS in each statistical category. Some fun names in here! Note that these numbers are missing the 1998 season, as for some reason the historical data for...
How Valuable are Your Picks? - A Two Year Anniversary Review
Yo! Back again with a brand new edition… after the 2009 draft I posted an article that broke down how valuable other teams picks are that are not yours!
Note: I tried to exclude all trade ups / backs or picks for player trades after...
2018 181 Rockets Sign C Eddy Curry for $15,000,000 over one year.
Grade: A
Eddy comes back home with his tail between his legs and $15 million smackeroos in his bank account. Nice signing for Nolan to devalue his pick a bit and give himself a better...
Every year, every GM's got his studs and it's duds, his craftiest moves and most embarrassing flops. For 75RPs, fill out the answers to the following questions and post it in the thread - think of these as your...
TL; DR: More free RP for a quick post! Prob wait til after FA to fill it out.
In addition to Team Awards, GMs can earn a quick and dirty 125RP by replying in this thread and filling out the below questionnaire - not required, but why not? Copy down the questions in a reply post and fill 'em out....
As is tradition in Orlando, I bring you, Bored on a Plane. With today’s flight, I’ll take a look around the league making some general observations with perhaps a few spicy takes (not likely, we eat the most bland food in Orlando).
1 Milwaukee Bucks: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Needs: Everything
Analysis: None. Those are SGA's weaknesses. Something like that is the only way to leapfrog the Serbian prodigy Luka. This GM offered
his FRP last year for SGA and i think this was a homerun...
I Want Yuta Hear Dat BATES DIOP *dubstep sounds:* The 2018 Big Board
WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB BRAHHHHH WUB WUB WUB WUB
I don’t care what you say, I think that’s the best title yet. Extremely dank draft, and if you listened to the pod you know I’ve got no idea what I’m doing making these...
Hello friends! It has been a rough 18 hours for me. After visiting a friend on Portland, Maine for Labor Day Weekend, I trained back to Boston to play poker for a night before catching a 5:15 AM flight to NYC and then Ubering directly to Bethpage to try to walk onto the Black course. At least that...
Well, this project has taken me a long fucking time to update and finish (I started it last season and just never locked in to finalize it) but here's an updated Top 100 list with tiers. Tried to get this done before the playoffs so the rankings wouldn't be influenced by additional recency bias....
JWoo wants more content for the anniversary so I figured I'd steal his job. Welcome to Merv's Mocks! Since we only have a handful of profiles, some of this will be based on what I think of players. Fortunately, I don't have a lottery pick so I can be more honest. Also in the spirit of fun, I ran a...
20 Years of SLN: The Best and Worst Individual Seasons in History
Spurred by JWoo’s call for content, I wanted to apply the metrics I shared in my prior Possession Advantage and Efficiency article to the SLN history books. Maybe some names here - beyond the obvious ones like Dirk, Manu, and Diop,...
The Timberwolves are currently shooting 48.3% from the field, which is 0.4% higher than the 2000 Bucks 47.9% season record. They shoot only 16 3s per game (22nd in the league), so I was curious to see how the teamwide true shooting compared to the league.
I've been having a (text) conversation with Tong over the past few weeks where I suggest he changes his third scoring option to someone he actually wants to shoot. Tong is certain that his strategy is his best option, given that it worked out pretty well last year.
Franklin D. Roosevelt: “Here’s the thing about luck…you don’t know if it’s good or bad until you have some perspective.”
Welcome to todays briefing on NDL Potential Boost Luck. I have crunched the numbers (not sure if correctly or not) based on Sir Joe of Land Bostonia's post on the most recent...
I've always had a hard time evaluating the impact and value of high volume, high TO players. Tim Hardaway Jr is a great example this year - super efficient scorer but a pretty awful stock differential. Would a player with the same volume shooting 46% with neutral TO differential be better?
