Big agree on the rebounding sentiment. Impossible to win even with great shooting if your rebounding differential is basically even or worse - I think that was one of the biggest reason my teams with Jamal Crawford at the 1 could never quite get to real contention, even though we shot the ball above average and were close to the league lead in stocks every year

Also re: getting 2 supermax guys in free agency, obvi Harden falls into that category, but not sure how many other people put in true max bids for looney (maybe 1 other cap team? The incumbent raptors did not I don’t think). A bunch of GMs podded/posted about that deal afterwards and said it was an overpay by me…don’t think I got good FA grades/feedback on it at the time. B- move I’d say

You had to max Looney to get him. I just think if he’s not going to be able to play 30 mpg that’s a large portion of your cap sheet to sink into that spot. Difference between value in a vacuum and value in a given situation. I’d imagine he had multiple max or near max offers, Raptors would’ve been HC so they couldn’t.

Agree! That's what I was saying in response to the pod - he's far from a no-brainer supermax guy (like Harden), I sacrificed my cap / my future flexibility deliberately because I really liked him and wanted to get him. I do think he probably got some near max offers based on the S&T inquiries I received, but I think there's a significant difference between max and near max offers in FA. He still ain't playin' 30 minutes (sigh), but I'll take 28 mpg any day
